What is display resolution?
Display resolutions or the modes of display in televisions, computer monitors, or any display device is the number of distinct pixels displayed on screen. There are many types of resolutions available today from enhanced-definition television (480p) to high-definition television (720p) to ultra high-definition television (4K).
Initially, we watched TV with 480p, which is considered to be the standard display resolution with an aspect ratio of 4:3 and mainly used in plasma televisions.480p resolution was made up of 640 x 480 pixels. How is this calculated? Screen resolution is expressed in terms of image length x height (both in pixels), the more pixels you add, the clearer your video gets. High-definition (720p) is made up of an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The number 720 stands for the 720 horizontal scan lines of the image display resolution. The next revolutionary resolution in videos is the ultra high-definition (4k). 4k gives you an almost real experience on TV. 4k is made up of 3840 pixels and 2160 lines.Many devices, from televisions to even mobile phones, are available in the market offering 4K display. Last year, Apple introduced an iMac with 4k and 5K display and now we have our next big upgrade in display called the 8K. One can only imagine the quality of video in a 8K display panel. Well for starters, Samsung has introduced the 8k TV at CES 2016. So it’s soon to find it’s way to stores near you.
